Haida Gwaii, BC

Well wow!  I’d never heard of Haida Gwaii until we checked the weather map to see where the weather looks good, saw Masset, BC on the map and looked it up to see what it was about.  Apparently lots of celebrities go there to visit the island.  It’s part of the Queen Charlotte Islands on the coast of BC.  I checked on Airbnb and found a few homes to rent, and managed to book a beach home for four nights.  So off to Masset we went!

We landed in Masset, the airport was right near the ocean.  Paul went and got a rental car and the kids and I unloaded the luggage and with the help of the airport guy brought it to the terminal.

We found our rental house on Towhill Road in Naikoon Provincial Park.  A lady had built the house as her home and she rents it out for the summer while she lives in a tent trailer nearby.

I had read there were a lot of agates on the beach so we spent many hours beachcombing and found a few treasures.

Penticton, BC

We spent the morning at Loco Landing, Abby did the jumping trampoline thing twice and Ben did the rope course and then the bumper boats with Dad.  I went to watch them in the bumper boats and they sprayed me with the water!

It was so hot out, felt like we were in an oven!  I’m definitely not used to this heat here.  Went for lunch and had a few local beers to cool off, then went to check out some orchards.  We saw pears and apples and picked peaches.  Even saw some dried up plums still on the trees – prunes?

I bought some peach honey and  honeycomb, I’ve been looking for honeycomb ever since I had honeycomb and Parmesan as an appetizer in Giada’s restaurant in Las Vegas, so good!  Can’t wait to try that at home.

Went back to the hotel and swam with the kids for a while.  Our hotel room has patio doors that open right to the pool in the atrium.

Out for supper for Chinese/Japanese food tonight then back to the hotel for more swimming for Ben and Abby got to watch some tv and relax.

Fresh peaches for bedtime snack!

So excited!

Hello!  We are a family of four with our own airplane and we love to travel.

I have looked for websites created by other aviator wives who travel all over Canada and the U.S. with their family in a small plane but have not found anything. I would love to hear about other aviator family experiences and would like to share our own adventures.

I’m excited to share some of our experiences with you!
